WHAT ARE STOMACH ULCERS?

Stomach Ulcer are open sores that form on the inner lining of the stomach and the uppermost section of the small intestine. These sores, also known as gastric or duodenal ulcers depending on their location, cause stomach pain as their most prominent symptom.

CAUSES OF STOMACH ULCERS?

  • A bacterium.
  • Regular use of certain pain relievers
  • Other medications.

SYMPTOMS OF STOMACH ULCERS?

  • Burning stomach pain
  • Feeling of fullness, bloating or belching
  • Intolerance to fatty foods
  • Heartburn
  • Nausea

DIAGNOSIS OF STOMACH ULCERS?

  • Laboratory tests for H. pylori.
  • Endoscopy.
  • Upper gastrointestinal series.

TREATMENT OF PEPTIC STOMACH ULCERS?

  • Antibiotic medications to kill H. pylori
  • Medications that block acid production and promote healing.
  • Medications to reduce acid production.
  • Antacids that neutralize stomach acid.
  • Medications that protect the lining of your stomach and small intestine.
